Retention Department

Finally in my experience sometimes calling in the middle of the night when it’s less busy you can get someone in a better mood at the end of the line which might offer you more information and give you less resistance.

The last weapon in this negotiation arsenal is to ask to speak with the “retention department”.  Most companies hate to lose their business to their competitor so most companies have a department that handles people who want to leave or cancel their services.  They will entice you with better last minute offers as a last resort to try to keep your business.

If really nothing works, go shop around for a better financial institution or services that can give you lower rates.

Monthly bank fees; get your bank to waive them, to reduce them or ask your bank representative how you can qualify to have the bank remove the fees.  In Canada we have a financial institution called PC Financial which offers free monthly banking, NO MONTHLY FEES.  That is another roughly $10 per month, $120 per year in my pockets!  That’s not counting all the money saved from using the interact machine.
