Online education can be broken down in two categories. Free and paid. Nowadays pretty much everything is available for free through search engines such as Google or Bing and video sites like Youtube or Vemeo.
We live in world of abundant knowledge available at our finger tips. The good thing about free knowledge and online education is that if you know what you’re looking for and where to look for it you can get the information right away.
The problem with this free online education method is, is if you don’t know what you’re looking for, you’ll never even think to look for it.
Hence why you could spend hours upon hours of watching and searching through mountains of information just to get that one specific gold nugget.
Now is when you’ve got to consider and factor in the value of your time. Is it worth more time to try to figure things out by yourself or is it smarter to ask someone to point you in the right direction?
The good thing about the paid online education is that often you have a problem and you seek more information by asking the questions to an expert either for advice or you have a membership to a site that offers complete courses via online education on specific topics.
By knowing exactly what you’re looking for or being sent on the right online education track, you can save a tremendous amount of your valuable time.

More than likely if you’re somewhat like me, where you want to have your business online and are trying to get things up and running, you need to know some basics in online lingo. Like HTML for example, you don’t need to know all of it by heart but it’s good to understand the basics of it.
A really good free online education site that I’ve used to learn all kinds of stuff related to the internet, like programming languages, CSS, etc is w3schools.com On this site, it offers you a section to learn and safe place to try new code without “breaking” your website so to speak.

As for paid online education Lynda.com is one of my absolute best choices. They bring in experts on all kinds of software and they give online courses about the specific topic.
You can watch the whole thing from beginning to the end like an actual course, or you can jump in right in the section that you really are trying to figure out.
When I have a sticky point on how to do something specific about a software; I look for the answer on Google and Youtube first. Often, I find one method but sometimes I need something more specific.
So I go to my Lynda back office, I type the name of the software I want more info on, then BAM, I find what I’m looking for because of the expert advice.
Lynda.com is great place to learn intricacies about specific software or topic however when I want to get a marketing’s perspective on things, I go listen to successful marketers. Check out my article about “traditional education or specialized education to grow your business” for more information on this topic.
Now if you just want to learn other typical stuff you’d find in traditional schools like science, math, physics etc, but via free online education check out KhanAcademy.org. If you’re anything like I was back then, this is probably where you are. You’ve just recently joined an mlm or network marketing opportunity, they give you give you access to a website that you can customize, enter your name, upload a picture and put your contact information.
The rest of the website is all done by the rest of the team and it’s a super fancy awesome looking website promoting you.
After signing up, you’re super excited about the MLM opportunity, you can taste your dreams become reality. All you’ve got to do is enroll your friends and family, then the money’s going to start pouring in overtime.
After all, if you recruit 2, that recruits 2, that recruits 2, down at the 7th level you’ll have 254 reps each sending you $30 in commissions from recurring sales month after month for a monthly total of $7,620 for years to come.
Maybe you’re a little shy or don’t have too much business background but you know that now you have a super awesome website and all you’ve got to do is send traffic to that website and the sales will come in. I know, I was kind of like that back in 2000.
A lot of us hear about how easy it is to just have everything done on autopilot without lifting a finger. The hard reality is that it’s not true at the beginning. You first have got to build a strong foundation in your business before you get to that level. If you can’t recruit someone in your business, you’re website will not either.
There’s no point to buy website traffic if your website doesn’t convert visitors into purchasers. If your website is just an “online brochure” so to speak, with no call to action, you’re just going to waste your hard earn money or even worse, you’ll stack it up on top of your current debt, might as well go to the casino your odds will probably be better.

That’s right, you’ve got to brand yourself online before you promote your company. People will not join companies, they will join people. You’ve got to become a leader and inspire or help people. Education To Grow Your Business – Traditional vs Specialized
Education to grow your business is the smart way to go about it. Now should you go for traditional or specialized education?
There’s a saying that goes like this: “Ignorance costs money!”. I hope you have not been paying into the “Stupid Tax” lately.
How much is traditional education to get a college diploma or university degree? From my understanding my friend paid $5,000 per semester to attend university. My friend did 4 years at 2 semesters per year, which gives $40,000 to get their bachelors degree (that’s not including books, parking or other related expenses). Now with all that education my friend can enter the work force and start working into their respective career of choice if their lucky and there’s an opportunity.
Now, let’s look at the price I used to pay for martial arts training. It was roughly about $100 per month, times about 4 years to earn a black belt which is 48 months x $100, which is $4,800 to become competent and knowledgeable in that skill. Perhaps the martial arts clubs around you are half that so let’s say $2,400 to cover your education. Again, it’s about 4 years.
Here’s where I’m getting at, in the traditional education context, it’s kind of “normal” to hear about 4 year commitment and high tuition cost, yet students will find a way to pay for it regardless if they’re not a 100% sure if that’s what they want to do in life. Some actually start from scratch in another program after they graduate because they were not happy with the first one or they simply had a change of interest.
Now, let’s look at us home base business owners. A lot of us invested in an opportunity, so we have access to a wealth vehicle, it could be direct selling, network marketing, mlm, online store, etc. That’s great; we have access to a service or product to sell. Where the lack exists in small home base business’ mentality is the knowledge and education to grow your business in marketing and promotion. Think about it, have you graduated in marketing or in advertising in school?
Business owners are very conservative or scared in investing in their own knowledge to market and promote their services or products using today’s platforms. Such advertising platforms are: Google AdWords’ Pay Per Click, Microsoft AdCenters’ Pay Per Click, Youtube Video Marketing, Facebook Marketing, Twitter Marketing, Search Engine Optimization, etc.

It’s no surprise that social media marketing and pay per click turned out to be one of the hottest trends to promote your stuff online. So which one’s better, social media marketing or ppc? Unlike pay per click advertising (PPC), social media marketing is kind of like putting your ad in a tv show except you have all the benefits of choosing your audience and most importantly tracking the results from your efforts.
Allow me to explain; in the pay per click format, you’re targeting your ads on what people type in the search engine and who are actively looking for solutions to a problem they currently have. This means that advertisers are competing for specific keywords which can increase the overall cost of the bids.
Example of a keyword or keyword phrase: “mlm” or “work from home”. The problem is if you go to more specific key word phrase like: “I want to join a home business to work from home in mlm”. Sure you’re bid on the keyword will be super small however there might be no clicks coming through because no traffic is searching for that specific search term. You don’t want to be on standby for the 1 search per month. It’ll take you forever, remember it’s a numbers game.
Social media marketing on the other hand, allows you to target specific audience based on interests. Example, let’s say it’s for me, if I want to find people for my network marketing opportunity, well, I know that I want to deal with people who “Likes” Jim Rohn or Anthony Robbins. I know these people have similar interest as I do and are open minded to network marketing in the first place therefore we have more opportunity to connect and build a business relationship.
So basically, your ad will show up on their screen, in a non intrusive way, while “they” hang out on the social media sites. And if it’s the right time for them and your ad speaks to your audience, then they will click on it to get more information. There is so much less competition this way because you can target any kind of special interests.

Social media marketing is great way to get more interested people to see your offer or your website when you come to think about it. Do you really think that facing all that rejection is a duplicatable process for someone who’s skin is not thick as yours?
