Maybe your traditional media advertising is not working as much as you’d like or you just find to expensive compared to other options. This is where video marketing comes in. It’s currently a very effective method of promotion.

Before we get into some the tips, let’s debunk a “myth”: “I don’t have fancy equipment.” Look, you can spend thousands of dollars on fancy equipment and the latest technology, but unless you use it to create interesting and exciting content, who cares. To have a video go viral, the quality doesn’t matter. The most important element is the content. That’s right, content is always king! If your message is awesome, people will share it. So keep in mind to deliver great value.

Any camera and mic will do to get started. A cell phone can do the trick too. Just start giving value. Over time you can upgrade your equipment but don’t let that be a deterrent to get you started.

When you’re video marketing, keep in mind that most viewers have a short attention span so keep your video between 2 to 5 minutes and get to the point quickly. If you have so much information, break it down into a “mini series” and write something like: “Part 1 of 4”. It’ll be a lot easier for the viewer to digest it.

When you’re looking upload your videos, there are many sites available out there however Youtube and Vimeo are the most popular and if you just want to upload to one versus the other, my recommendation is Youtube. The reason for that is simple. Google owns Youtube and if you have videos on Youtube with specific keywords, well Google will favor that video in the search rankings.

You can create how to videos, tips and tricks videos, entertaining videos and really any genre you want but for business I’d stick with the educational and how to stuff. This helps you teach your customers how to use your products or services correctly while showing other potential prospects how well your products work.

Side Note! Don’t spend to much time worrying about production value when it comes to generating video marketing content. There is more to a video than production value.

Be sure you optimize the videos you’re putting up. Especially if you when you upload videos to more than one site, you should have unique titles and descriptions for every one. Make sure you add in your keywords. Also include contact information or website as well, so customers can easily find you or contact you. Side Note! Instructional videos are very beneficial to video marketing campaigns. Allowing people to see how a product works can really add to their trust in you and the product in itself.

Although it’s important to create solid content, you should also make sure that people are aware of it. Keep in mind that after you have produced your videos, it’s important that you promote them. You can share them on social media sites or use pay per click to drive traffic to them. Of course when you do, you’ll notice you get a lot more attention and increased click-through rates.

Video marketing will allow you to establish rapport and connection with your audience much faster than just  a regular article. An other good way to use video marketing to its full advantage is to use traditional advertising methods to send traffic to your newer more engaging videos which then leads to an offer.
